Commitment Tracker · South Africa · V1

Who committed capital to women-led SMEs — and who delivered.

The #BankOnHer Commitment Tracker follows gender-responsive finance commitments made by South African banks, DFIs, government and global initiatives, from announcement to verified delivery.

The African Development Bank estimates Africa's financing gap for women entrepreneurs at US$42 billion — roughly R100 billion in South Africa alone. This tracker measures the commitments made to close it, and how much of that money verifiably moves.

How we track a commitment

Every commitment moves through a five-stage taxonomy. Headline figures count evidenced disbursement, not status: whatever portion of a commitment is publicly documented as disbursed counts toward the moving total, at any stage. Everything else — including live facilities with no disbursement reporting — sits in the gap.

Announced

A public commitment has been made. No implementation evidence yet.

In progress

Implementation has begun — products launched, facilities structured, partners appointed.

Delivering

Capital or support is reaching women-led SMEs, with partial evidence of disbursement.

Verified

Delivery independently evidenced against the original commitment.

Stalled

No evidence of progress for 12+ months, or the commitment has been quietly shelved.
